Waxing hair removal and sugaring hair removal not only save time and effort, they also promotes hair follicle damage. Follicle damage weakens your hair resulting in thinner hair and slower growth rate. Razor burn can be itchy, painful, and may even cause distress when you feel like others can see it. Upon consultation, we will discuss your hair type, maintenance routine, and skin sensitivities to determine the correct fit.
Sugaring hair removal is known for being a natural and gentle alternative. Sugar is a caramel like paste made with sugar, lemon and water. Sugaring Hair Removal is less irritating to the skin because it melts at body temperature and does not remove any live skin cells from the surface. Sugar is applied against the hair growth direction so that it can melt into the follicle and wrap around the root of the hair more effectively. The length of your hair is critical to minimize pain, it should be about the length of a grain of rice to prevent tugging and breakage.
Waxing hair removal is the most common in the industry. Typical wax options are soft, hard, and creme wax. Soft wax is applied to the skin and removed with a strip. Hard wax shrink wraps around the hair as it cools. Once cooled you can remove the wax itself. Creme wax is kind of a middle ground. It is a similar consistency to hard wax, but it is removed with a strip and does not harden.

Your hair growth has a cycle it follows each month that determines when your hairs grow, shed, and form. This cycle is important to waxing hair removal and sugaring hair removal because the stage determines the efficiency of follicle damage. Each hair has its own cycle and it takes about 3-4 consecutive appointments to get them all on the same page. This means you may notice some hair sooner or experience breakage after your first few appointments.
This stage is when your hair forms and grows. This means that it is above the skin surface and is ready to be removed. Removing the hair at this stage helps to promote more follicle damage, resulting in more permanent damage and less hair growth over time. This stage lasts about 30-45 days, making 4 weeks the perfect time to schedule your sugaring hair removal or waxing hair removal appointment.
Often referred to as the transition stage, which lasts about 10 days. The hair shaft becomes weaker as it is preparing to shed in the Telegen stage. Due to it’s weaker structure the hair may be more prone to breakage and it is less likely to bring the follicle out with it, meaning less follicle damage. Also during this stage, it begins to create keratinization at the base that turns it into a “Club Hair”. This serves as a way to hold onto that hair and prevents it from falling out before it’s ready. This stage can be the most troubling to waxing hair removal and sugaring hair removal services.
During this stage, the hair goes dormant and stops actively growing. The hair becomes easier to remove, because it wants to shed to grow again. This stage is the least predictable and can last any amount of time. This stage may make sugaring hair removal and waxing hair removal less painful, but it doesn’t do much for follicle damage since it kind of just “falls out”. After this stage, your hair repeats the process and goes back to the Anagen stage.
